Self Insured Best Practices

CCI has embraced national best practices to provide the best customer service in our industry. These include:

  • Three-point contact is achieved within 24 hours.
  • Claim investigation is initiated during the contact phase and completed within 14 days to determine compensability and develop a claims management strategy.
  • Subrogation and recovery are recognized and pursued.
  • Appropriate medical cost containment measures are utilized and supporting medical documentation is obtained.
  • Disability management and vocational rehabilitation measures are utilized to pursue an early return to work.
  • Reserves on all lost-time claims adequately reflect the current exposure in the file.
  • All claim payments are timely and accurate in every lost-time claim.
  • A plan of action is developed (30 days) to resolve outstanding issues to facilitate resolution and closure of the claim.
  • Action plans are updated as circumstances evolve, but no less than every 90 days.
  • Communication is maintained with the employer, injured worker and treating physician until the claim is closed.
  • Documentation is timely and written in a logical and sequential order.
  • When warranted, cases are referred to counsel in a timely fashion while maintaining control, directing counsel activity and reviewing status reports from counsel.
  • Client’s special account instructions are documented and complied with.
